Our Story
The ASSIST Fallen Officer Fund was established in 2004 following the tragic shooting of a security officer in Dallas, Texas. The officer was alone at an armed two-man post when the incident occurred. After he passed away, his family had no way to afford a proper burial. No financial support from his employer. No workers compensation. Nothing.
ASSIST members came together and raised the funds to help his family through one of the hardest moments of their lives. That act of solidarity became the foundation of the Fallen Officer Fund.
In the years since, the fund has provided financial assistance to officers and their families in the wake of line of duty deaths and other catastrophic events. ASSIST has ensured that families receive support until they are able to secure workers compensation or Social Security Survivor benefits. The fund is sustained through regional fundraising efforts and contributions from supporters like you.
